2-min. hilarious must watch Radical Gratitude Video
Happy Thanksgiving!
I know this vid has a very Christmas vibe, but it as an amazing message about radical gratitude that is fitting for the whole year.
I love reminders like this that shift me into a deeply grate-full state ...in spite of all that seems to be missing or messing (i.e. being amid a crazy pandemic and having family gatherings severely limited--waaaaaa-can you feel my tantrum?)
At the beginning of the pandemic my sister Shannon had a sage insight. She said (and I paraphrase):
"There has been all kinds of predictions that major change was coming, and many of the soothsayers thought it would be in the form of a World War. We might think of the pandemic, as tragic as it is, as a 'gentle World War III--maybe then instead of us being so bent out of shape by having to wear masks and practicing social distancing, we saw the adjustments to our lifestyle as minor compared to what we might otherwise been made to endure."
That's a paradigm shift, if I've ever heard one!
What if this is a moment in history, unlike we'd ever had before, that brings the world together, on even footing, and has us all realize how interconnected we truly are.
Maybe this "gentle WW3" is giving us all a chance to appreciate each other more, rethink our priorities and get down to what really matters.
Last night, as my husband and I debated (gross understatement) about whether or not to join my family for an outdoor Thanksgiving (the jury is still out, by the way), I broke down and sobbed, realizing one of the strange blessings of this pandemic is realizing how fiercely I love and miss spending quality time with my family and friends...and how much those connections are the real gold in life. If you're like me, you already knew that...but now, we really know it, and now we just have to figure out creative ways of being together and showing how much we care.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'm really grateful to have a chance to interview a very special person in my world, a neighbor of mine in Topanga, Sue Ganz-Schmitt. Sue is one of those very special people that you meet in this world that you think, "Wow, if more people were like her, this world would be a better place! If I only had a cloning machine..."
Sue Ganz-Schmidt is such a generous, loving, dreamy soul and one of the most creative people I've ever met.
She's written a series of popular children's books that have come directly from her dreams and her dreaming mind.
If you've ever thought or dreamed of writing a children's book
or wondered how those people that write children's books come up with their ideas and bring them to life,
Sue will shine light on her process. Take a peek at her two latest creations:
