Fall Equinox, Falling Dreams & The 4 Forces of Flight (That’s a lot of F-words)🤬
Happy Fall (Vernal) Equinox!
Today’s the day when those of us in the Northern hemisphere welcome Autumn🍁 and our brothers and sisters of the Southern hemisphere open their doors to Spring🌸
On the physical plane, today we experience night and day in equal measure.
Metaphysically, the equinox is all about balance and Libra happens to also about balance…
So… this equinox provides us a double whammy opportunity to embrace our dreamy and our practical side our light and our shadow our buoyant positive-thinking inner optimist and our heavier-hearted-deeply-feeling self… so no matter where we happen to be on the planet, we can enter a new chapter of our lives…one that more powerfully embraces all parts of ourselves.
And what a beautiful thing to do…especially now, amid the divisiveness in the US regarding our upcoming election. Oy!
Carl Jung taught that all parts of our dream are within the dreamer.
As a dream worker who has been practicing dream principles like this for most of my life, it’s becoming more difficult to look out in the world and see “others.”
It’s like Whitney Houston keeps singing in my ear, louder and louder, “I’m every woman (and man), it’s all in me…”
My point is strangely, this perspective of all beings are within me, always leaves me feeling more grounded and filled with love…even if what or who I’m embracing is a part I might otherwise judge or push away.
And isn't it the goal of life is to fall more deeply in love with life and with each other? I think so.
To more deeply fall into Fall (my FAVORITE season), let’s explore one of my favorite dream symbols… you guessed it, Falling dreams (excerpted from my Dream Oracle Cards):
Fall
Drop into the deep end of your soul
Message:
What is overwhelming you?
A new relationship, job or life situation?
All this change may leave you spinning and disoriented, feeling a bit out of control. Take heart in knowing that you are an infinite being dropping into the depth of your soul’s ever-unfolding nature. Wings are provided upon request to facilitate a soft landing on the solid ground of your spiritual essence. The adventure has just begun, so you can now explore a deeper level of your true nature and a greater insight into your purpose for being alive. Remember, sometimes things need to fall apart before they can come back together in a new and better way. From this perspective, your challenge is to learn to drop into your depth with grace.
Meaning | depth
Dreams of falling signify a feeling of loss of control, insecurity, overwhelm or lack of confidence. You may be losing your step as a result of not having your feet firmly planted on the earth. Or you may be in a growth spurt in your life, experiencing changes and thus feeling that you’re in over your head. You may be judging yourself for having failed at something you set out to do. It is also believed that there are “falling spirits” that are beckoning you to them so they can initiate you into a deeper level of wisdom, power and awareness.
Mantra
I am grounded in the bedrock of the here and now, rooted to the heart of unconditional love.
So, with this Equinox, step into a new relationship with yourself – one that is more expansive enough to fall in love with your dark and your light… and everything in between…within you and those you interact with.

As I’m nearing the deadline of the first draft of my new book Dreamafesting (Nov. 1st OMG—wish me luck!) I’m hyper-focused on the metaphor of flight I use throughout the book.
Why flight? You ask.
Flying in a dream is one of the most high-vibe, aspirational dreams we humans can have, in my research, I recently learned about how a plane flies, using the 4 Forces of Flight:
1. Lift—This is the energy that allows the plane to elevate.
2. Weight—In contrast to lift, there is a countervailing force of gravity, without which we would fly into outer space and never be seen or heard from again.
3. Thrust—Thrust is the force that propels a plane in the direction of motion and keeps you in the air.
4. Drag— The counterbalancing force to thrust, drag slows the speed of the plane. Drag is the force that acts opposite to the direction of motion, caused by friction and differences in air pressure.
When it comes to Dreamafesting (Dream manifesting) our goals, most of us relate to lift and thrust. But what, we don’t take into consideration weight and drag, which are equally as important.
These opposing forces balance each other and keep us on the planet. Not to mention, sometimes the things that hold us back and slow us down are the very things we need to take off.
Only celebrating lift and thrust is like only celebrating Spring and Summer. But what would we do without fall and winter?
We would fall out of balance in perpetual sunshine. We need the darkness. We need the Fall in order to celebrate the harvest.
Fall Equinox Mini Ritual:
Sooo… what are you harvesting?
What seeds did you plant in the Spring that are blooming now?
Make a list of 10 things you’d like to acknowledge about yourself that has come into fruition? A friendship, a workout routine, a meditative dream practice?
