I am my emotions…not! 😫

Mister Roger’s once said, “Of course, I get angry. Of course, I get sad. I have a full range of emotions. I also have a whole smorgasbord of ways of dealing with my feelings. That is what we should give children. Give them ways to express their rage without hurting themselves or somebody else. That’s what the world needs.”

As the child of a busy mother and abusive step-father,Nikki Ann Davis bonded with the forests of northeastern Pennsylvania. It was in the woods that she found her path to healing the wounds of abuse, her parent’s divorce, her father’s abandonment, and later as an adult the death of her six-year-old niece.

As a mom of a neurodivergent son, Nikki knew that the best way she could help her son understand his emotions would be through the connection to each other and to the natural world. She searched for years through books for the words that would help make this connection. As the Covid-19 pandemic began and her son’s OCD flared she knew she had to write the book that would help him and all children work to understand and transform their emotions.

My Emotions Are Not Me, is an illustrated learning journal to give children (and adults) the tools to navigate the oceans of emotion that can be so overwhelming.
